What is Yoga?

Yoga is a way of life that includes a profound practice that originated in ancient India with the primary aim of revealing the innate completeness and freedom within human beings. Its secondary objective is to foster integration and harmony among the physical body, emotions, and thoughts. Thus, Yoga transcends a mere physical exercise—it is a liberating philosophy that permeates every aspect of a healthy lifestyle.

The term "Yoga" stems from the Sanskrit word "yuj," which signifies "union." This union is achieved through the integration of various elements: ethical principles known as yama and niyama, physical postures called asanas, breathing exercises referred to as pranayama, meditation techniques known as dhyana, and relaxation practices such as yoganidra.

In Yoga, the body is considered a vital instrument for self-awareness. Through the practice of physical postures, we cultivate strength and flexibility, release tension, and enhance vitality. Additionally, the postures contribute to the development of body awareness and concentration, laying the groundwork for meditation.

Conscious breathing holds great importance in Yoga. By mastering breathing techniques, we learn to activate the flow of vital energy and release blockages within.
